Fifth Grade Reading Unit 5
Due Thursday, March 21st, 2013: Use the spelling list "Review Words 2." Using the terms on the spelling list and using the story ish, write examples of the terms using evidence and direct quotations from the text. This is done in your notebook.
Due Friday, March 15th, 2013: Write the spelling words (Review Words 2) and definitions in your notebook. The spelling words are found on the home page.
Due Monday, March 18th, 2013: "The Gymnast" Changes in Character Essay. Write an essay that describes ways that Gary's characteristics change from the beginning of the story to the end. See the directions below for more details. Use the writing rubric above to guide your writing.
Due Tuesday, March 19th, 2013: "The Gymnast" Challenges Essay. Write an essay that describes the challenges that Gary faces in the story and how he responds. See the directions below for more details. Use the writing rubric above to guide your writing.
Due Tuesday, March 19th, 2013: Spelling words in sentences, ELA Review Words 2.
Fifth and Sixth Grade Independent Reading Project: Due March 27th. It is not too early to begin your project. Complete a little bit each week and you will have a fantastic project in the end. Scroll down for more information. Remember to use as many sophisticated words as possible in your project for extra points.
Due Wednesday, March 6th, 2013: List as many adjectives as you can describing Great-Grandma, the Three-Century Woman. Be sure to list positive characteristics as well as negative characteristics. I am hoping you will think of and find at least 20 adjectives.
Due Wednesday, February 27th, 2013:
- Students will read The Three-Century Woman in the fifth grade Reading Street textbook pages 516-530.
- Complete question numbers 2, 3, and the “Look Back and Write” on page 530.
- Answer the questions on loose-leaf to be handed in for a grade.
